About Zia-e-Kulsum

Co-Founder: Khushbakht Suhail

Since childhood, Khushbakht had the aim of helping underprivileged children, especially those who were forced to beg on streets due to various reasons. She completed her Bachelors in Business Administration from Institute of Business Administration in 2013. After graduation, in order to do research on the problems of underprivileged children at grass root level she joined Teach for Pakistan’s extraordinary two year fellowship program where she was placed in Behbud Government Girls Secondary School Kalapul to teach Maths and English to grade 6th and 7th. In her second year of fellowship she felt that this was not enough and she had to counter the education problem urgently. Her co-fellow also showed great interest in the idea and together they laid down the roots of Zia-E-Kulsum. She currently manages all the communications and finances with the children’s families and schools.

Co-Founder: Zehra Ali

Zehra Ali came to Institute of Business Administration with big dreams. She was high on the glamour of a bustling corporate life which awaited her after her Bachelors in Business Administration would culminate. But God had other plans for her. She started Teach for Pakistan’s two year fellowship program where she was placed in Behbud Government Girls Secondary School Kalapul. After witnessing the issues of education first hand she decided that she could not go back to the corporate world as the cause of education needed her the most. She partnered with her co fellow to start Zia-E-Kulsum. The children were given training at her own house before they were admitted in the schools. Currently she is pursuing her Masters in Public Policy from University of California Berkely as a Fulbright Scholar.
